8mm Black Carved Wood Miraculous Medal Rosary | Silver Ox | Boxed
A carved black wood rosary built for daily prayer and lasting devotion. This 8mm bead rosary features hand-carved black wood beads joined with a silver oxidized crucifix and Miraculous Medal center — a complete sacramental for anyone serious about praying the Rosary. Whether you are returning to the faith, deepening your prayer life, or looking for a rosary that holds up to daily use, this is a rosary worth carrying.
The Miraculous Medal traces its origin to 1830, when Our Lady appeared to St. Catherine Laboure in Paris and requested that a medal be struck bearing her image and the words: "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee." The medal was approved by the Church and quickly spread throughout the Catholic world, earning the name "Miraculous" for the graces reported by those who wore it with faith. Pairing the Miraculous Medal with the Rosary unites two of the most powerful Marian devotions in Catholic tradition. The Rosary itself was championed by St. Dominic and later affirmed by Pope Leo XIII, who wrote twelve encyclicals on the devotion, calling it a compendium of the Gospel. Together, the Miraculous Medal center and the five decades of this rosary invite the faithful into sustained meditation on the life, death, and resurrection of Christ through the eyes of His mother.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the beads on this rosary made from?
The beads are 8mm black carved wood, giving this rosary a substantial feel and a distinctive carved texture. The silver oxidized crucifix and Miraculous Medal center complete the set, and the entire rosary arrives in a gift box.
Is this a good rosary to buy from a Catholic religious goods store?
Yes, this 8mm black carved wood Miraculous Medal rosary is one of the most practical and affordable options available from a Catholic religious goods store. It combines durable carved wood beads with a silver oxidized finish on both the crucifix and center, making it suitable for everyday prayer use or as a gift for any occasion in the Catholic faith.
What is the Miraculous Medal and why is it on this rosary?
The Miraculous Medal is a Catholic sacramental whose design was revealed by Our Lady to St. Catherine Laboure in Paris in 1830. Our Lady asked that a medal be struck with her image and the words 'O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.' The medal was approved by Church authorities and became widely known for the spiritual graces reported by those who wore it with faith and devotion. Placing the Miraculous Medal at the center of a rosary unites two of the most beloved Marian devotions in Catholic tradition, inviting the faithful to pray the five decades while meditating on the mysteries of Christ through Mary's intercession.
Is this rosary a good gift for Confirmation or First Communion?
Yes, this carved wood Miraculous Medal rosary is well suited as a Confirmation gift, a First Communion gift, or a gift for someone completing RCIA. Can a priest bless this rosary, and how should I care for the wood beads?
Yes, any Catholic priest can bless this rosary, which is encouraged as a way to make it an official sacramental for personal use. To care for the carved wood beads, avoid prolonged exposure to water or moisture, which can cause the wood to swell or crack over time. Store the rosary in a rosary case when not in use to protect both the beads and the silver oxidized hardware from scratching.
