St. Anne is the mother of the Virgin Mary, the wife of St. Joachim, and the grandmother of Jesus Christ. Not named in Scripture, she is nonetheless one of the most deeply venerated women in the Catholic tradition — honored as the woman who raised the one who would become the Mother of God. Her name in Hebrew is Hannah, meaning grace. Her feast day is July 26, shared with St. Joachim.
